Selecting An LCD Projector Screen

The first thing that you need to decide before buying an LCD projector screen is the screen size. Now there are many different sizes available in the market and the prices rise according to the size of the screen. Don’t be confused whether to keep the LCD projector or the viewing audience as the criteria for selecting the screen. It is a standard rule to keep the audience in mind while making a decision about the size of the projector screen. Other factors that you need to consider while selecting the size of LCD projector screens are the room dimensions and arrangement.  To calculate the perfect screen size according to the room and seating arrangement, you should follow some rules. Keep the height of the screen about one sixth the distance from the screen to the last seating row. Coming towards the front seats, they should be at distance of about two times the screen height.

After having decided about the height, see that the minimum height of bottom of the screen is four feet above the floor.  You need to keep the screen bottom at a minimum height so that those people who are sitting the farthest can also view it.  Be sure about which format of screen do you want depending on the video signals that you will be playing on it. Having made up your mind about the dimensions of the screen, you now need to decide about the screen surface that you want.  If you are going to be using the screen for multiple projection methods, choose a screen surface which is compatible with the lesser performing projection method.

There many different types of LCD screens that are being manufactured these days. These screens vary in the basis of their function and prices. If you need to be moving around a lot, you can buy a portable screen which can be disassembled easily if it has to be taken somewhere else.  These screens are better suited for people who have to make presentations at different forums and have to travel a lot for the purpose, although they can be used for a home theater too. If you have a permanent place where the screen would be installed, buy a fixed screen which is mounted on a wall. This screen is the perfect fit for a room dedicated as a home theater.  Since these screens cannot be retracted, a curtain is used to cover them in order to ensure safety and cleanliness.  Electric screens are easier to use as by the push of a button, you can retract the screen. Since electric screens are expensive, you can buy a manual screen as an alternative which retracts just like an electric LCD projector screen but you have to do it manually.
